Metaphors and similes

My class and I have been looking at Metaphors and Similes and we are learning to use them in poems. What is a Metaphor- A Metaphor is when you use two Nouns and compare or contrast them to one another. I.E.. life is a Journey. what is a Simile. A simile is a comparison that show two things that are not alike in most ways are similar in one important way. Similes use the words "like and as"to make the connection between the two things being compared. Here is my poem with 1 Simile and 1 Metaphor.

Having A Little Sister

Very Annoying

Volcanic Steam Coming Out of my ears

They get their own way all the time

flowing tears

Its like living in Annoying sister land

its horrible

That's why i don't like little, annoying sisters
